Breast Cancer Network of Australia (BCNA) Did you know.....? Over 11,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia each year. The Berlei Group has long supported breast cancer and women sufferers by supplying a free crop top/bra for women to wear post surgery. In 2005 we formed a partnership with the Breast Cancer Network of Australia (BCNA) (www.bcna.org.au) to compliment their ‘My Journey’ kit for women, and to expand distribution of the Berlei products to those who need them. The free Berlei bra and breast form kit comprises a soft cup bra designed specifically for the post surgery period of 7 to 12 weeks, as well as breast forms and a pink carry bag. These items would normally cost $120 at retail but are given free to these women. The garment was trialed extensively by survivors of breast cancer, and has special comfort features. The fabric was chosen for its softness and special attention has been given to the placement and sewing of seams. It has half cups to hold the breast form in place and can be worn during radiation treatment. The free Berlei kit can only be obtained through selected providers including: BCNA, Breast Care Nurses, Cancer Council registered community nurses or Surgeon’s assistants.
